Henderson County GOP Convention Information

Henderson County Republican Party Convention

March 27, 2021

The Henderson County Republican Convention and Precinct meetings are right around the corner! I really hope you will come this year. A number of our elected officials will be speaking and District 11 GOP candidates will be there as well.  It's a great opportunity to get involved.

The Convention will be held at the Lodge at Flat Rock (42 McMurray Rd, Flat Rock, NC 2873)  Doors open at 12:30, and Precinct Meetings start promptly at 1:00.  This year we will have the Precinct Meetings in the same room as the Convention.  We will conduct the Precinct Meetings and take a short break, light snacks provided, then start the Convention in the same room.

Here are some FAQ’s that you may find helpful.

Q: Who can go to these meetings?

A: Anyone who registered as a Republican by Jan 31st, 2021 may participate in the convention.

Q: I am registered as an UNA and would like to attend the Convention.  Will that be allowed?

A: We love our conservative UNA volunteers and voters, however due to limited seating we are only allowing those eligible to participate in the Convention to come into the Convention Hall.  You must have been registered REP by Jan 31st, 2021 to be eligible to participate.

Q: What’s the difference between a Precinct Meeting and the Convention?

A: The Precinct Meetings are held immediately before the Convention in the same room as the Convention.  Each precinct will sit together as a precinct. The meetings will be conducted a little differently this year because we do not have an area that can accommodate 35 breakout groups.  We will work in unison and each group will elect delegates and alternates to the county Convention.  Detailed instructions will be given during the meetings.  You must be at this meeting to be seated as a delegate to any other conventions. (district or state).   The Convention will follow the Precinct Meetings.  Delegates will be seated, HCGOP Officers will be elected, resolutions and changes in the local plan will be considered at the Convention.

Q: Why should I consider going?

A: The County Convention is a great place meet your precinct chair and find out how to get involved with the Party.  You will also be able to vote on your local party leadership.

Q: Does it cost to attend the County Convention?

A: This is a no charge event. We do ask for a $15 dollar donation to cover the facility expense, however it is a voluntary donation, not an event charge.

Q: If I am seated as a delegate, does this obligate me to attend other conventions?

A: No, however it does help us to get the maximum number for Henderson County seated because the voting at the state level is weighted based on the number of delegates we seat.

Q: Do I have to pre-register?

A: I will send out  a separate email with the option to register, however it is not required, just appreciated. You can also indicate you are going on our Facebook Event page.

Q: Who do I contact if I have questions?

A: Call the office at 828-693-6040 or email [email protected]

Best Regards,

Merry Guy, Chair HCGOP
