Congratulations to Dave Nicholson and his team for another fantastic Apple Festival! A combination of great organization, perfect weather and a Trump economy brought 10’s of thousands of visitors to the Festival.
The HCGOP booth was swamped much of the time, with steady traffic all three days. The enthusiasm for Trump, and other Republicans was incredible! Folks were looking for “anything Trump” – bumper stickers and hats were a favorite. Hundreds had their picture taken with Melania and/or Donald Trump.
A WWII veteran wanted to make a donation for a Trump hat, but instead, we gave him the hat as a small token of our appreciation for his service. He promptly got a picture of himself, with the hat, next the our “Melania”. He was just one of many who understand what it means to have a smart president who loves this country above self.
We registered 27 Republican voters and signed up 29 new volunteers, and enjoyed some fundraising as well. Candidates and elected officials came by to meet and greet the voters and constituents, answer questions and in general spend time with the folks they represent.
On Monday we all met to decorate the float, and then walk the parade handing out information cards for the adults, and beads etc, to the children – many along the parade route cheered us on with a thumbs up sign. I have a special shout out to Chuck and Jennifer Hargett for organizing the parade, and pulling the float!
Our booth and the parade were a “Huuuge” success due to the many volunteers who gave their time and effort to staff. Our great volunteers dealt with traffic, parking and heat to stand for hours talking with fellow Republicans, signing up volunteers, registering voters and answering questions. I can’t thank each of you enough. Looking forward to next year’s festival – surely it will be even more exciting as the 2020 election draws near!
